Passionate about soccer and working with young athletes? Here’s how coaching works at the club.

The Mount Pleasant Soccer Club hires coaches who have a passion for soccer and have experience working with young players of all skill level. We ask our coaches to pursue a grassroots coaching level license

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated youth soccer coach to join MPSC. If you are passionate about soccer, enjoy working with young athletes, and have a desire to help them develop both on and off the field, we encourage you to apply. Whether you’re an experienced coach or looking to grow your skills, we value a positive attitude and commitment to fostering a supportive, fun, and competitive environment. If you don’t meet every qualification listed, don’t worry—your unique experience and enthusiasm could be exactly what we need!

Below is a list of the responsibilities that our coaches perform:

You will Need to:

  • Use good communication with families, other MPSC members and other MMYSL staff and coaches 
  • Be able to organize and keep track of player information and reporting scores to the league
  • Provide or seek out an assistant for your season to help with the development of your team
  • Adhere to the MPSC Mission and Vision  

Time/Commitment Overview:

  • Background check from the State
  • Ask you to work towards coaching license online or in-person
  • Full Year (Two Season) commitment for Coaches (Fall and Spring) with no Winter obligation
  • Fall (Mid-Late August to Late October) & Spring (Early March to Second Week of June)
  • Required to attend Scheduling Meeting before every season (Frankenmuth)
  • Attend MPSC Coaches Meeting each season
  • Encouraged to attend at least 1-2 Monthly MPSC Board Meetings a year
  • Two Practices a Week: ~ 90 minutes    in a T/Th or M/W format typically
  • About 8-12 games a season (half are away) mostly on weekends
  • Play in MMYSL League and travel as far north as TC and south to Flint 
  • Strongly encouraged to play in 2 tournaments throughout the year 

(one in fall, one in spring or they have winter ones as well).  This is additional costs that families know about and incur (~40 per tournament)

  • Guidance, assistance and feedback when needed from MPSC Director of Coaching
  • Have a MPSC Registrar handle most of the paperwork for your team
  • Letter templates for communication with families
  • Club Shirt
  • Paid each season: $???  (No Travel or Food Reimbursement)

Guesting guidelines

MPSC follows the MMYSL rules in Rule 8 section 5 around regarding Club Passcards. Below are a list of key rules around guesting from MMYSL:

  • Players may not guest in teams of the same Age group and Division
    • Example 1: a U10 player in the MMYSL Gold division may not guest on to another U10 team in the Gold Division
    • Example 2: A U10 player in the MMYSL Silver division may guest on to a U10 team in the Gold division.
  • Players may not guest up more than 2 age groups
    • Example 1: a U10 player may guest up to a U12 team but not a U13 or higher
  • Players may not guest in an age group lower than shown on their passcard
    • Example 1: A U10 player may not guest on a U9 team.

In addition to MMYSL rules, MPSC also utilizes the following guidelines for guesting in our Club:

  • Guesting of all ages will be completed at the coaches discretion based on player availability, positioning, and, most importantly, safety.
  • U9 – U12 athletes who are safe to guest up given the coach’s (and parents) discretion should all be given an opportunity. Athletes U13 + will be at the coaches’ discretion.
  • The director of coaching and player representative will monitor all guesting.

Violation of the MMYSL rules or Club guidelines can be reported to the MPSC Player Representative via email.
